INNER & OUTER TRANSFORMATION: DHARMA & DEEP ECOLOGY, John Seed & Tejopala Rawls
Event description
John Seed is a long-term environmental activist and a pivotal figure in the Deep Ecology movement. He works with experiential processes that help us break through the illusion of separation and allow us to deepen our felt connection with the living Earth and nourish our ecological identity.
Tejopala Rawls is a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order and has for some years been involved in organising on climate change within that worldwide Buddhist community. He has a background in energy conservation, politics and environmental campaigning. He works as a Community Organiser for the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change which mostly involves asking people from various faith backgrounds to put pressure on the federal government over the climate crisis. He has also written and performed stand-up comedy on the issue including a show in the Melbourne Fringe called ‘Killing the Planet is Against My Religion’.
John Seed and Tejopala Rawls will look at the relationship between spirituality and ecology and the ecological shoots in all major religions, particularly Buddhism. They will explore the connections between 'inner' and 'outer' transformation, and some of the challenges that can come with being concerned with both.
This is a hybrid event, both face to face and zoom. A link to the recording of the event will be sent to all who register.
