Inner Development Goals Workshop, supported by Sustainability Options
Event description
Sustainability Options is excited to invite you to this very special event!
In a world that feels increasingly complex and fast-moving many of us are asking: How can I stay grounded while dealing with ambiguity and leading change?
This workshop is a space to pause, reconnect and grow - together.
This two-hour Inner Development Goals (IDGs) Workshop is designed to support you as a leader, changemaker and human being as you navigate uncertainty with purpose.
The IDGs are a global initiative inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focused on the inner skills necessary, such as self-awareness, humility and trust, to meet today’s challenges with courage and compassion.
We’re thrilled to be joined by Gary Shaw, New Zealand’s first IDG Ambassador and Robin Smith, a Somatic Embodiment Coach. Together they will guide us through a few hours of experiential learning, meaningful conversation and inner transformation.
You’ll walk away with:
● Fresh insight into your own inner capacities
● Practical tools to support your leadership and wellbeing
● Resources to integrate the IDGs into your team or organisation
● A renewed sense of connection, clarity and possibility
While the session is evidence based and grounded in timeless wisdom, this isn’t a lecture or a theory-heavy session. It’s a human, energising and practical experience, a chance to slow down, embody resilience and leave more equipped to lead in a way that’s sustainable for you, for those around you and ultimately, for the planet.
Entry is free, spaces are limited, please register so we are aware of numbers attending – we would love to have you join us.
(cash bar available, membership rules apply)
Gary Shaw
Gary is a Modern Slavery Specialist, Sustainability Consultant and Inner Development Goals Ambassador.
As a New Zealand Police Detective on approved leave, he relocated to Washington, D.C. as an international human rights investigator, working undercover in twelve countries to infiltrate criminal networks trafficking women and children into the commercial sex industry. Gary then founded and directed a New Zealand anti-trafficking organization with a field office in Southeast Asia; rescuing victims, facilitating the prosecution of perpetrators and encouraging systemic transformation in the Asia Pacific region.
He successfully participated in the rescue of hundreds - but failed to rescue many thousands. The cumulative weight of this work eventually led to burnout, divorce and despair; an unravelling that compelled him to question and dismantle the narratives that had shaped his efforts. One of the unforeseen benefits of this process was deeper insight into the root causes and systemic drivers that perpetuate exploitation and injustice, revelations that have shaped a more holistic approach to addressing the underlying forces that enable it.
For the last nine years Gary has led a growing movement in the private sector among businesses seeking to respond meaningfully and effectively to the massive social and environmental challenges that dwarf us all. As New Zealand’s first certified Ambassador for the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) he is uniquely qualified to help leaders and teams transform, build social and emotional resilience and cultivate the inner qualities necessary to face today’s complex challenges.
He holds degrees in Psychology, Sociology and Economic Development, has completed an Inner MBA, and is a graduate of the Centre for Action and Contemplation
Robin Smith
Robin guides people to be more grounded in their bodies and aligned with their values and purpose through somatic embodiment coaching. Her work centres on embodied resilience - supporting individuals to develop the somatic competencies that underlie leadership, adaptability and the ability to navigate complexity with greater clarity, courage and compassion.
With an intuitive body-based approach, she guides clients to feel more resourced from within, nurturing deep internal awareness, nervous system regulation and emotional processing to foster a sense of wholeness and aliveness.
Robin’s path has always been guided by a deep curiosity about the mind-body connection and how we as humans, heal, grow, and thrive. She holds a Master’s in Physiotherapy, a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, a Diploma in Positive Psychology, a Certification in Embodiment Coaching and is a qualified Therapeutic Yoga and Breathwork teacher.
Robin brings an integrative and trauma-sensitive lens to her work. She draws on postgraduate training in trauma response and nervous system education to support individuals in building resilience from the inside out.
A lifelong learner, Robin is continually deepening her understanding of how to support others with presence, integrity and compassion. Her work offers practical somatic tools for healing, connection, and inner transformation.
