Inner-Directed Therapy Information Session
Description
In this free information webinar, you'll learn about Inner-Directed Therapy's online and in-person specialty training programs.
Our programs focus on cultivating the embodied therapeutic skills that safely and skilfully support clients as they move through non-ordinary states of consciousness. This approach has developed primarily in the context of psychedelic-assisted therapy, supporting clients through the preparation, dosing and integration phases — and can also be applied to breathwork, meditation, and other practices that evoke non-ordinary states.
In addition to learning the theory of inner-directed therapy, participants deliver and receive therapy following an inner-directed approach throughout the programs and observe each other as they do so. Participants give and receive feedback to each other throughout this process.
This practical and experiential approach develops an embodied understanding of the therapeutic approach, as both the therapist and client, providing the foundation for them to work skilfully with clients moving through non-ordinary states — whether working with psychedelics or other techniques.
Our online Foundations program is open to a wide variety of practitioners, and covers the foundational skillset required for inner-directed therapeutic work. This is followed by our in-person intensives, in which participants will support one another through expanded state based therapeutic processes. In 2027 we will be launching with intensives that utilise psilocybin (in Europe) and breathwork (in Australia and Europe).
In this session you'll learn about:
the philosophy and conceptual underpinnings of Inner-Directed Therapy
why having a solid foundation of relational and inner-directed therapeutic skills is absolutely necessary for safely working with non-ordinary state
the curriculum for our two programs: the online Foundations of IDT and in-person intensives
the structure and flow of weekly classes
the importance of observation, practice and feedback in developing subtle psychotherapeutic skills
which of our two programs may be best suited for you
Whether you're seriously considering these trainings or simply curious to learn more, we welcome you to join us.

Jimena Doval Clarke
These days, Jimena wears several hats within the psychotherapy and mental health field, with her work spanning clinical practice, education, supervision, and group facilitation. At the heart of her professional identity is her work as a humanistic psychotherapist in private practice, where she specialises in supporting individuals experiencing trauma and addiction. Alongside her clinical work, Jimena is a lecturer at Ikon Institute of Australia, where she teaches across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her teaching focuses primarily on trauma and the body, supporting counselling and psychotherapy students to develop an understanding of how trauma is held within the nervous system and human experience. She is particularly passionate about helping emerging therapists recognise the body not only as a place where trauma is carried, but also as a powerful gateway for healing. Jimena was also among the first therapists in Australia to work clinically with psychedelic-assisted therapy following the rescheduling of psychedelic medicines. She continues to support clients within this emerging field as part of a co-therapy dyad. In addition to her clinical practice in psychedelic-assisted therapy, Jimena provides both individual and group supervision to therapists and psychedelic-assisted therapy clinics across Australia. Another enduring passion of Jimena’s is group therapy and group facilitation. Over the years, she has facilitated therapeutic groups across a diverse range of settings, including women’s prisons, private hospitals, and community-based programs. She holds a deep belief in the transformative potential of the group process and sees the group container as one of the most profound vehicles for growth and healing.

Scott Edwards
Scott Edwards has spent over 10 years working at the intersection of education, non-ordinary states of consciousness and somatic practice. As Executive Officer and Head of Education and Training at Mind Medicine Australia, Scott designed and delivered Australia's first and largest training program in psychedelic-assisted therapies — the Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (CPAT) — training over 400 clinicians across psychiatry, psychology, and psychotherapy. He was also part of the team that successfully advocated for the landmark 2023 regulatory changes enabling the clinical use of psychedelics in Australia. Alongside this, Scott has maintained a private practice for over a decade as a somatic facilitator, working with breathwork, bodywork, and somatic therapies to support deep healing in individuals and groups. He is a co-founder of Breath Medicine. Whether leading a team, teaching, or facilitating therapeutic process, Scott's work is deeply informed by his contemplative practice. This practice, which integrates Buddhist teachings with earth-connection and ancestral practice, is a source of joy and wisdom — and the ground from which he holds a deep trust in the capacity of each of us to find our path to insight and healing.
