Inner West Disability Forum - July 2026
Description
Inner West Disability Forum - July (2-Year Anniversary) 🎉
Join us for the next Inner West Disability Forum as we return to where it all began to mark two years of reconnecting, collaborating, and strengthening our local disability network.
This session will focus on critical upcoming NDIS changes, alongside an opportunity to come together during Disability Pride Month to acknowledge and celebrate the disability community.
Date: Thursday, 2 July 2026
Time: Approximately 9:30 am to 11:30 am
Venue: Leichhardt Town Hall
A warm thank you to Inner West Council for generously providing the venue.
📍NDIS Updates and Sector Impact
We will hear from Tania Gomez, who will present on key upcoming NDIS changes, including:
Mandatory SIL provider registration
Broader system changes coming into effect from 1 July
Kezia Kingston will lead a discussion on the transition from traditional OT functional assessments to the I-CAN assessment model.
This is a significant shift for the sector. The discussion will explore:
The impact on allied health practitioners, particularly Occupational Therapists
Implications for job security and service delivery models
The broader effects on organisations that rely on assessments and reports
This session will also feature a panel discussion:
“The Ripple Effect: NDIS Changes & Community Impact”
We will hear from Tania Gomez, Kezia Kingston, and Fadel Fadel, who will draw on their extensive experience across the sector to unpack the upcoming NDIS changes and their implications for both participants and providers.
Fadel Fadel will contribute a support coordination perspective, drawing on extensive hands-on experience to highlight how these changes may affect participants’ pathways, service access, and provider practices across the NDIS landscape.
The Inner West Disability Forum is a member-led, volunteer-organised network of people working in and alongside the disability sector across Sydney’s Inner West.
The forum creates space to identify local service gaps and barriers, share information and resources, strengthen collaboration across providers and community members, and amplify the voices of people living with disability. Participants include a mix of sector professionals and people with lived experience, making this a unique and grounded space for meaningful discussion.
This session also celebrates two years since the forum was re-established, bringing the community back together after a period of disconnection. We look forward to reflecting on how far we have come, and where we are heading next.
