When: Thursday 30th of April
Time: From 02:00 to 04:00pm
Location: Concord Oval (Canadian Exile Room)
Afternoon tea is kindly sponsored by City of Canada Bay Council.
About the Session
Young Voices Big Choices is a new Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) project supporting young people with intellectual disability aged 16 to 25, and their families, to plan for a good life.
This session is a Family Consult Session only. It has been designed specifically to hear from families about what matters most as young people move through important life transitions.
Families will be invited to share their perspectives to help co‑design future Young Voices Big Choices workshops and supports.
👉 Please note:
This session is for families only. A separate consultation session for young people will be held at a later date. We encourage families to talk with the young person in their life before attending, so their views can help inform your contribution.
What We Will Focus On
The session will explore family experiences and priorities around key life transitions, including:
Leaving school
Starting work, training, or further study
Moving out of home
Making decisions about the future
The session will also introduce Supported Decision Making and discuss how it can be used by families in everyday life and during major transitions.
Who This Session Is For
This session is for families and carers only, including:
Parents, carers, and guardians
Siblings and extended family members actively involved in the young person’s life and future planning
This is not a session for professionals attending in a work capacity, or for young people themselves. A separate consultation session for young people will be held at a later date. Participants will receive a gift card for their time.
Why Attend
By attending this Family Consult Session, you will:
Contribute directly to shaping the Young Voices Big Choices program
Share what matters most to your family during times of change
Learn about Supported Decision Making in practical, family‑focused ways
