Event description

The South West Development Commission (SWDC), City of Bunbury & the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) have announced the Innovative Industries of the Future (IIF) event series, marking a new chapter of discussion, discovery and regional collaboration.

The program will begin with a series of lunchtime events leading up to the IIF Conference in November 2026. The first event, “Building resilient industries: lessons from agritech, AI and circular economies”, will explore how innovation and technology can strengthen the South West’s economic future.

Now in its second year, the IIF initiative aims to spotlight the people, sectors and ideas driving transformation across the region. The opening session will feature Ben van Delden, Founder of Delco AgriFood and one of Australia’s leading voices in agrifood transformation and the circular economy.

With nearly three decades of international experience spanning Deloitte, KPMG, and Delco AgriFood, Ben has advised global food companies, led national sustainability strategies, and helped regions chart pathways toward decarbonisation and sustainable development. A co-founder of Bega Circular Valley and member of the Australian Food and Ag Industry Taskforce, he brings deep insight into the innovation and collaboration required to shape the industries of tomorrow.

We will also hear from Hon. Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development, Jaysen Miguel, Mayor, City of Bunbury, Tash Teakle, Managing Director AgriStart and Innovation Cluster & Danny Griffin, Chair of the South West Development Commission and President of the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce.

The November lunchtime event will also include:

  • 11am - 12pm | Canapes & wine tasting from premium local producers, and stalls from local suppliers

  • 12pm - 1:30pm | Sit-down lunch with guest speakers

  • 1:30 - 2pm | Networking opportunities
