Ins and Outs of Financial Literacy

Join this free, face-face workshop in Longreach to get a clear understanding of systems and practices that will build your confidence and keep you safe as you navigate various parts of our financial services.

The workshop will be delivered by Decision Supported Services and is funded by National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIS).

About the Presenter

Peter Fraser

Peter has had a diverse 35 year+ career in the financial services sector, including the development of his own motor vehicle finance brokerage in Melbourne in his mid-20s, to roles across 9 different banks and financial institutions. His hands-on experience has encompassed most aspects of banking, including work in the legal department of a major bank and roles as a Merchant Banker, Licensed Financial Planner, Home Lender and as a part owner of what was Australia’s largest online Mortgage Brokerage in the late 2000’s, before becoming a Bank Manager of one of the Big 4’s $1 Billion dollar branches. In 2012 he moved to Qld, for a more relaxed lifestyle, and 2016 saw him appointed as the Executive of a local regional bank before retirement in mid 2026. This period has seen enormous regulatory transformation in banking which will continue to change due to online threats and scams, and the increasingly “cashless” world that customers and businesses now face. Peter gets a real kick from simplifying things so that inexperienced or vulnerable people can navigate banking and finance in a way that works best for them and can answer most questions off the cuff!

Outback Independent Living (OIL) is the state-funded peak body for people with disability in Central West Queensland.

We work alongside communities and organisations to build local capability, strengthen systems, and improve outcomes - particularly in areas where access to services and training is limited.
