Still from Intimate Communications, by Chris Caines and Emma X Zhang

CHRIS CAINES & EMMA X ZHANG

Chris Caines and Emma X Zhang are artists working across installation, sound, and performance. Chris Caines, based in the Blue Mountains, on Dharug and Gundungurra Land, explores immersive media and spatial interventions, often interrogating perception and technology, while Naarm-based Emma X Zhang focuses on materiality, movement, and the sensory experience of environments.

They joined forces during the Manang Artist Residency in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas, creating a site-responsive work that fuses their distinct approaches, for which Emma composed visuals and Chris developed music and sound.

MICHAIL MATHIOUDAKIS as MARCIA MANHUNTER

Michail Mathioudakis is a Gadigal-based artist and performer working through drag, screen, photography, and zine-making. As Marcia Manhunter, Michail creates elaborate, otherworldly and multi-layered costumes and personas, blending grotesque, camp, and dystopian influences.

Viewing drag as "theatre of the self”, Michail sees the artform as a way of performing gender that changes the context of the space in which it exists, an explicitly queer method of storytelling told through visual and performative expression. Their drag work extends their visual practice into living, immersive spectacles where costume and movement collide to explore transformation and identity.
