Inside the economics of regulation - guest lecture by Kevin Counsell, Chief Economist, Ministry for Regulation
Event description
Is there such a thing as a one-handed economist? Why are markets the go-to for getting stuff done? What even is regulation and when should we use it? Join us on 6 August to hear from Kevin Counsell, Chief Economist of the Ministry for Regulation, to find out the answers to these questions and more and to take a behind-the-scenes look at how economic thinking shapes government decisions and what the economists at the Ministry for Regulation do every day.
We will have food and drinks following the talk and you have a chance to chat with not only Kevin but also the Ministry's Head of People about their brand new graduate programme with four graduate roles. More more information of their graduate programme, see careers.regulation.govt.nz.
Who is Kevin? With over 25 years of experience across the private and public sectors, Kevin Counsell has worked on everything from competition, regulatory and welfare economics to urban and environmental policy in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Asia.
