Coal River Farm recently won Gold for Excellence in Food Tourism at the Australian Tourism Awards. Coal River Farm produces cheese and chocolate on site, as well as offering a restaurant serving locally grown and sourced seasonal produce.

ABOUT DANIEL LEESON

Daniel is the founder of Coal River Farm, Tasmania’s leading Agri-food tourism business. Family owned and operated, Daniel built the farm, cheese factory, chocolate factory and restaurant eight years ago and has won Excellence in Food Tourism at a State level every year since. He has won the Australian Tourism Awards for the past two years in Food Tourism and Retail Tourism as well as taking our many national and international accolades for the quality of its cheese and chocolate including winning Gold at the World Cheese Awards in 2020. He has focussed his business on showcasing the best Tasmanian produce grown and made within his local region. Before staring the farm he has a background as a tourism, hospitality and liquor lobbyist in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania and has also been Chief of Staff to a previous Tasmanian Premier. He is a passionate advocate for locally made products and value adding on farm produce.
