Social Traders, QSEC and Impact Boom invite Brisbane’s social impact community to spend time in conversation with David LePage, co-founder, Director and Managing Partner of Buy Social Canada and Director on Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) Board. Hear from David on how social enterprise and social procurement is progressing in Canada along with his insights on Queensland’s developing ecosystem.

Joining David will be a panel of leading industry experts to provide an update on the state of play within the Australian social enterprise sector along with key highlights from the recent Social Traders Conference and the QSEC Unconference. Panellists include David Brookes (Social Traders), Emma-Kate Rose (Food Connect/QSEC) and Belinda Morrissey (English Family Foundation). The conversation will be moderated by Tom Allen (Impact Boom).

ABOUT THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

David LePage focuses on contributing to creating a social value market place, where trading generates community capital rather than merely economic capital.  His work over the last 15 years has involved supporting development of, and advocating for, social enterprise and social procurement across Canada.

David LePage is co-founder, Director and Managing Partner of Buy Social Canada. Buy Social Canada, which facilitates social purchasing relationships and offers a certification program for social enterprise suppliers and purchasers.

David is the designer and was the initial Executive Director of Community Impact Real Estate. CIRE is a non-profit social enterprise in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside using a portfolio of 1,000 square metres of commercial properties to create social and economic value for low income residents in an evolving inner-city community.

He is a founding partner of the Social Enterprise Institute, SEI. SEI is an internationally accessible on-line learning, coaching and resources platform for social enterprises and social entrepreneurs.

David is a Principal with Accelerating Social Impact CCC, Ltd., one of Canada’s first ever hybrid social enterprise corporations. Through ASI he provides social value-based business advice and consulting, promotes a supportive public policy environment and advises social purchasers and impact investors. His years of experience cross all dimensions of social enterprise activity, in rural and urban settings, across cultures, and internationally.

David is the Chair of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada and Director of the Social Enterprise World Forum Board. He is a Program Adjunct and an Instructor for the University of Fredericktown Sandermoen School of Business MBA in Social Enterprise Leadership.

David is a member of several boards and recently served on the Canadian Federal Government’s Social Finance and Social Innovation Committee, 2017-18. David was the Manager of Enterprising Non-Profits from 2006 to 2013.
