Inspired by Breathing invites you to an intimate evening of independent contemporary dance performance featuring local Naarm dance artists: Adrien Tucker, Hosanna Ball, Joseph Newton Keogh, Jasmine Susic, Jareen Wee, Miles Lee and Sarah McCrorie. IBB is proud to platform artistic voices from our community, presenting a diverse program of solos, duos and works in progress - all bespoke creations. About some of the performers:
Miles Lee is a dance and sound artist based in Naarm. Following from his last EP release 'Corpus' under the IBB music label, Miles brings a new textural ambient sound piece accompanied by dance performance which has been inspired by biomechanical imagery in the artworks of H.R Giger, and in particular the movie Alien (1979).
Adrien Tucker's performance draws inspiration from the musical artist Tsuruda, generating a movement language informed by his experimental hip-hop crossed with avant guard electronic style of sound. Exploring the contrasts between light and dark, tension and fluidity, Adrien aims to delve into the transitional elements between these states.

We pay our respects to their elders past, present, and acknowledge that the struggle against colonial violence continues. Sovereignty has never been ceded. The venue is wheelchair accessible via Weston Street, although there is a small step that needs to be negotiated. There are no windows that are openable in the space but we will leave double doors open for airflow and the space is quite cavernous with high ceilings.
