TERMS & CONDITIONS – INSTRUMENTAL/VOCAL PROGRAM

Tuition Fees:

The cost of a half hour individual instrumental/vocal lesson is $32.00 and $20.00 for a paired lesson. At the commencement of lessons, an invoice will be issued for Tuition Fees for the term. This invoice will clearly outline the payment methods and all other contact details of your tutor. All fees must be paid within two weeks of receiving the invoice. Lessons may be suspended until fees are paid in full.

Hire of Instruments

o Flute - Clarinet - Trumpet - Trombone - $160 per semester
o Alto Saxophone - $280 per semester
o Tenor Saxophone - $280 per semester
o Oboe - $220 per semester
o French Horn - $220 per semester
o Violin - $110 per semester
o Cello - $220 per semester
o Acoustic Guitar - $110 per semester
o Electric Guitar + Amp - $160 per semester
o Bass Guitar + Amp - $160 per semester

The College can arrange most instruments for hire through DB Music Solutions. Payment for hire instruments will need to be finalised on initial registration for instrumental/vocal lessons. Hire fees for semester 2 will need to be paid via an online link that will be sent at the end of Term 2. As students’ progress, it is advisable that parents/guardian consider the viability of purchasing an instrument.

When brought to school, instruments are the responsibility of the student.
Where possible it should be kept in the CPA Storage facilities.
Instruments should have the student’s name and G/C clearly visible on the case.
Privately owned instruments need to be privately insured.
The student is responsible, and must pay, for any damage to the hired instrument through negligence.
Any damage must be reported immediately to Ms Rodger. If an instrument requires an adjustment or repair, please bring the instrument to one of the music staff
If hiring is no longer required, instrument must be returned to the CPA Foyer Office. Billing will continue until the instrument has been returned.

Absence from Instrumental/Vocal Lesson:

In the case of a student absence from school on the day of an instrumental/vocal lesson, it is imperative that the Instrumental Tutor be contacted on their private number, text or email at the earliest possible convenience.

In addition, when contact with the SSO is made regarding absence, specific reference is to be made to the fact that your daughter was to receive an instrumental/vocal lesson on that day, or alternatively call the CPA Foyer Office on 82165772 and leave a message or email Alexandra Mantis on alexandra.mantis@stmarys.sa.edu.au.

This information will then be promptly passed on to the relevant Instrumental Tutor so that the instrumental lesson can be made up at a later date. Failure to inform appropriately relinquishes the requirement for the instrumental tutor to make up the lesson missed.

Other than long term illness or long-term vacation (the latter requiring at least four weeks’ notice in advance) absences will be paid for and no lessons will be ‘made up’ when a student is absent without prior notice.

A student may discontinue lessons (only after consultation between a Parent/Guardian, Instrumental Tutor and Ms Sue Rodger Director of Music). Termination of lessons can only occur at the end of a semester (i.e. end of Term 2 or Term 4). An email is then required by Week 8 of Term 2 or Week 8 of Term 4. No tuition or hire fees will be refunded when a student discontinues lessons before the end of any given semester.

Semester Reports:

All instrumental/vocal tutors will be using SEQTA Direct Message for year 6 – 12 students to report on their progress weekly. This will replace a physical diary and a written end of semester report. Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact their instrumental tutor through SEQTA with any queries regarding reporting. A report for Reception to Year 5 students will be sent via email to parents at the end of each semester.

A Music Diary can be purchased from the CPA Foyer Office for $2.00 (junior students).

Other Information:

There will be a maximum of 32 lessons for the year.

All students are required to be a part of a school band, choir or other official school ensemble upon reaching the required standard. Please discuss this with your Instrumental Tutor and Ms Rodger.

Instrumental/Vocal Concerts are scheduled each semester and held in the CPA. These concerts are a great opportunity for students to perform to families and friends as well as gain confidence in this environment.
