Event description

Liquid Architecture presents the first edition of ‘Inter.Sonix’. Inter.Sonix showcases artists with forward thinking and culturally significant sound and music works. The series will host performances and conversations with artists from Australia and the Global South to encourage artistic exchange and social connection through sonic practice.

The first show in the series is a focus on Audio/Visual performance featuring rEmPiT g0dDe$$ from Malaysia and Lynn Nandar Htoo for Myanmar in a collaborative A/V performance.

rEmPiT g0dDe$$ and Lynn Nandar Htoo represent a new vanguard of Southeast Asian experimental electronics—conjuring hybrid forms that traverse industrial club, fractured vocal textures, and percussive minimalism. From Phnom Penh to Kuala Lumpur, their sets trace unstable geographies, where identity, resistance and rhythm coalesce in restless, shape-shifting sound. With links to CTM, Boiler Room and Yes No Wave, both artists operate at the faultlines of global undergrounds—urgent, unruly, and impossible to categorise.

Drawing lines between noise, club, and the conceptual fringes of performance, both artists navigate diasporic identity with immediacy. This is music as a proposition: urgent, destabilised, and rooted in a deep engagement with place, form, and the outermost edges of sound culture.

Also presenting on the night is Passive Kneeling and Sui Zhen.

Passive Kneeling is a multidisciplinary artist who has worked with Australian and international artists to extend and enhance the sonic worlds they create on stage through both custom-made and collaged imagery that sticks in the mind long after the last note rings out. Previous collaborators include Japan’s Wata Igarashi and Soichi Terada, Berlin’s Etapp Kyle and Charlotte De Witte, as well as Australian festival mainstays Bag Raiders, Ninajirachi, Haiku Hands, Vallis Alps, Roza Terenzi and many more.
Sui Zhen is a musician and creative producer working across audio, visual and interactive mediums. She is the daughter of a Chinese-Malaysian migrant and a settler, was raised in Eora and presently lives and works on unceded Wurundjeri land. Her musical project Sui Zhen examines loss on multiple levels, from the death of loved ones to the widespread societal tendency to disappear within the 1’s and 0’s of modern life's tech-driven rush.

Aaliyah Salem will select music before between and after performances.
