Intermediate DIY and Wood Wood Working for LGBT+ (Aug-Oct 2026)
Course Description
Make friends, while making furniture!
Meet other LGBT+ people while building on your existing skills by taking on a series of practical furniture projects.
You will make a side stool and a small table shelf for yourself.
Intermediate Level Course
Participants must be confident and competent using basic workshop machines safely.
This course is designed for learners who have previously completed a beginner woodworking course or have experience using basic workshop machinery.
What to expect
🏳️⚧️ It’s especially run for the LGBT community (16+) only. We welcome all trans and non-binary identities, including gender non-confirming.
🏳️🌈 This group is LGBT+ facilitated and delivered in partnership with LGBT Health and Wellbeing of the Making With Pride' Programme. You will be provided with a year free membership to The Edinburgh Tool Library.
This is an intermediate class.
It is an ideal follow on from our Introduction to DIY and Woodwork course
🎟️ There will be 10 spaces available each week.
⭐️ You will be taught by trained, professional crafts people
💬 You will have plenty opportunity to get to know your class mates.
🪵 We will provide all materials
🥽 We have PPE (mask, ear defenders, safety glasses) for all attendees but we recommend you to bring your own if you have them.
🛠️ You will have access to a wide range of large-format woodworking tools, hand tools, power tools and a workbench space.

Follow any instructions to use machines safely

Barriers to Access
Currently, our main entrance and toilet are not wheelchair accessible due to a steep ramp and narrow doors and turning spaces.If there is anything you need to talk to us about in advance to help you access the event please email michelle@lgbthealth.org.uk or phone 0131 564 3970.
We aim to make our workshop wheelchair accessible workshop by the end of 2026.
