Peter Rowsthorn Bio:

Peter Rowsthorn (born 9 February 1963) is one of Australia’s most beloved comedic talents, known for his quick wit, expressive performances, and enduring presence across television, film, and theatre. From his early days at Trinity Grammar School in Kew to earning a teaching degree at Rusden College, Peter’s journey began in the classroom as a drama teacher before he stepped into the spotlight.

He first made waves in the entertainment world as half of the comedy duo The Cactus Brothers in 1983 and soon became a household name through his work on The Comedy Company and the cult classic Kath & Kim, where he played the unforgettable Brett Craig. His career spans decades, with roles in Crackers, Let the Blood Run Free, Can We Help? and appearances on Thank God You’re Here, Talkin’ ’Bout Your Generation, and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! — where he lasted an impressive 40 days in the jungle.

But behind the laughs, Peter has faced his share of personal and professional challenges. In 2020, as COVID-19 restrictions swept across Australia, he lost $40,000 in bookings while mid-flight—his calendar wiped clean by the time he landed. The sudden halt to his work brought financial stress and emotional strain, compounded by internal family pressures. “I’ve got some internal problems at home which are pretty big so it’s a lot of stress in lots of different ways,” he shared candidly.

Rather than accept financial help, Peter chose to work for his brother’s trucking business, demonstrating his resilience and humility. His openness about these struggles has made him a relatable figure, especially in an industry often marked by uncertainty and instability.

In recent years, Peter has continued to evolve—appearing in The Amazing Race Australia with his daughter Frankie and taking on the role of Amos in Chicago in 2023. He’s also lent his voice to mental health conversations, participating in initiatives like ReachOut’s “Likes and Limits” series, which explores the impact of social media on families and wellbeing.

Now based in Perth, Peter remains a passionate supporter of community causes, a proud father, and a devoted Hawthorn AFL fan. His story is one of reinvention, vulnerability, and the enduring power of laughter—even in the face of life’s toughest moments.

Pete Nelson’s Bio:

Born in the seaside town of Lorne, Victoria, in 1961, Peter Nelson’s journey quickly led him to Geraldton, Western Australia, where his family settled when he was just four years old. Growing up by the coast instilled in him a lifelong love for the ocean, surf lifesaving, and a deep sense of community—values that have guided him through every chapter of life.

Peter is a proud father of four sons and grandfather to five grandchildren. Family remains at the heart of everything he does.

With over 45 years in the mining industry, Peter built a career defined by resilience, adaptability, and determination. For the past 30 years, he has owned and operated Specialised Reline Services (SRS), a Geraldton-based company serving Australia’s mining and utilities sectors. Under his leadership, SRS earned a reputation for safety, reliability, and innovation. For Peter, success has always been about more than hard work—it’s about integrity, consistency, and purpose.

Though retired from full-time work, Peter remains deeply active in his community. He serves as President of the Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club, where he helps keep local beaches safe and fosters a welcoming, spirited environment for members. An avid ocean swimmer, Peter has competed in events across Western Australia, always drawn to the thrill of diving into the surf and pushing through the waves.

In 2025, Peter was honoured with a W.A. Volunteer Service Award, celebrating 51 years of dedicated service. It’s a milestone that reflects not just longevity, but a lifetime of giving back to the community he loves.

Peter’s life has included its share of challenges, including personal loss and grief. These experiences have deepened his appreciation for friendship, connection, and the healing power of service. As President of Champion Bay SLSC, he is committed to building a stronger, more inclusive community.  He’s also looking forward to sharing life’s next adventures with his partner, Jo Waller.

Whether in business, on the beach, or in the heart of Geraldton, Peter Nelson leads with heart, shows up with purpose, and strives to leave every space better than he found it.
