About Being Biracial
Biracial identity is so often missing from conversations about race in Australia and Aotearoa. Being biracial fills that gap. It’s for anyone who has struggled to claim all of their ‘mix’, for the parents of multiracial kids who want to start to understand their experience, but most of all it’s for anyone who loves a good story and a giggle. Each episode is an interview about identity, juggling cultures, and family gossip. It’s a celebration of shared experiences across different cultures.
Maria Birch-Morunga (she/her) is a Māori/Pakehā trainer, podcast host and craft queen. Maria channels her activism into her art by creating embroidery pieces on topics from tokenism to capitalism, and co-hosting Being Biracial podcast. Maria also serves on the board for arts organisation Mossfolk.
Kate Robinson (she/her) is an Iranian/Australian family violence lawyer and artist. She was the inaugural Feminist in Residence at Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, where she curated the community craftivist exhibition ‘Make a Fuss’. She currently serves on the board for independent arts organisation NextWave and the QVWC Trust.
