Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West are celebrating International Women’s Day at the Capitol Cinema Warrnambool on Thursday 6th March from 6:30-8:30pm.

The theme for International’s Women’s Day 2025 is March Forward. The theme emphasises that progress is not just about reflection, but about making decisive bold steps to turn commitment into action for gender equality. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation as catalysts for lasting change, but we all have responsibility and have a role to enable change.

To celebrate this theme, we are hosting a screening of Equal the Contest followed by a brief Q&A. The documentary follows the story of a filmmaker who joins a new local women’s footy club in regional Victoria with a simple desire to play, that then becomes a complex journey of inclusion and belonging. It challenges long-standing sports traditions and becomes part of the broader movement for gender equality.
