Event description

INVITATION! WOODWORKERS AND MAKERS

Women woodworkers, turners, whittlers and carvers are invited to a pot-luck lunch to share stories and experiences at Geeveston Community Workshop on March 8th.

This opportunity is to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD); a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

“The colours traditionally associated with International Women's Day are purple, green and white. The colour Purple signifies justice and dignity, while being loyal to the cause. Green symbolizes hope. White represents purity, - perhaps a controversial concept these days”.

This year we are opening the Community Workshop to show you what resources are available to help you develop and share your skills.

You can book into either the 10am or Noon Session, which will included time for lunch and your induction. Induction Courses accrediting you to use the Workshop will be held at 10:30am, and 1:30pm.  There will also be some basic instruction on sharpening tools, carving and hand tools.

If you can, please bring your stories and experiences or general interest in wood working; a sample of your work if you have one; current project you might be developing or thinking about and a plate to share for lunch.  Tea and coffee will be provided.

Please ensure you wear close-toe shoes, and a cap or scrunchy to hold back your hair. Aprons will be provided.

The $10 induction fee provides membership to the Geeveston Community Workshop for the next 12 months.
