Breakfast event: Learnings from LGBTIQ+ philanthropy
Event description
GiveOUT, The Aurora Group and Equality Australia are three national LGBTIQ+-led organisations that share a vision of equality for all LGBTIQ+ people.Â
Collectively, we are delighted to invite you to this special breakfast panel event on learnings from LGBTIQ+ philanthropy, to coincide with the Philanthropy Australia National Conference in Adelaide.Â
Whether your philanthropy focuses on human rights, young people, mental health, housing, stronger democracy or social inequality of any kind, impactful change requires an intersectional approach.
This event is for all philanthropists who want to know how their granting strategies can better meet the needs of diverse and under-represented communities. You will hear from LGBTIQ+ community sector leaders and philanthropists with experience in intersectional giving, to explore:Â Â
- How funders—regardless of size, maturity and focus areas—can apply an intersectional lens to improve their giving practice and avoid common blindspots
- The ways social disadvantage uniquely impact LGBTIQ+ communities and LGBTIQ+ communities that experience intersectional marginalisation or discriminationÂ
- Good practice examples of intersectional approaches including how to get started and what can be achieved when philanthropy and the community sector work together
We are also looking forward to sharing with you an exciting (and confidential) strategic change in the LGBTIQ+ sector that will help accelerate progress towards equality.
Thank you to Fay Fuller Foundation and The Wyatt Trust for your generous support in making this event possible, and to The Snow Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund for your ongoing support of our LGBTIQ+ sector.Â
