Event description

Interwoven is presented by DRILL Performance Company Inc, in association with Tasmanian Youth Orchestras.

This performance is a preview performance.

A blend of contemporary dance, live music, and structured improvisation, Interwoven features both new and existing music, and characters inspired by various mythologies, alongside characters inspired by the life experience of the young performers from DRILL and the Tasmanian Youth Orchestras.

Through a visceral dialogue between live sound and movement, musicians and dancers investigate the complex interplay between the world we inherit and the lives we choose, and how we participate in our social framework.

The piece moves through themes of inherited structures, resistance, and the ongoing struggle for autonomy—asking urgent questions about freedom, collective responsibility, and the power of artistic expression to uplift unheard voices.

Interwoven invites us to reflect on our own illusions of freedom, the choices we make and how we participate within our own communities, and to listen deeply to the voices we don't always hear.

Interwoven is assisted through the Tasmanian Government by Arts Tasmania and by the City of Hobart through Creative Hobart.
