Jacqui Dark (Intimate Acts)

Jacqui Dark’s career has encompassed opera, musical theatre and cabaret, and she has graced stages ranging from The Sydney Opera House and Vienna State Opera to The Famous Spiegeltent.

For her Phoenix debut, she has chosen songs close to her heart. 

Jacqui draws from her two critically acclaimed cabaret shows Jacqui Dark is Alive and Well and Living In Newtown, celebrating the songs of Jacques Brel, and Take This Longing, a poignant exploration of all we long for and all we long to leave behind. 

Complementing these are songs that have been specially selected and created by Jacqui, her musical director Daryl Wallis and Creative Advisor Sam Russell, to respond to the unique architecture and stunning acoustic of the Phoenix space. 

From the gritty realism of Brel’s Amsterdam to the operatic yearnings of Kate Miller-Heidke’s Where and the mysterious weavings of Kurt Weill’s Youkali, no soul will be left untouched.
