Into the Clouds - Mixed craft with Tessa (5+)
Event description
Come soar into the clouds with Tessa! Your little pocket rocket will do 3 awesome activities over the day.
Activity 1 – Stained Glass – Introduction to the solar system, stars and moons. Students follow a drawing exercise to draw a line drawing either the sun, moon, or their favourite planet. They will then back it onto their frame, where they will create their own stained glass design. Using glass paint, they will fill in the gaps to complete their design.
Activity 2 – Butterfly/ insect mixed media collage – Students will select their chosen bug/ butterfly template. Students engage in a variety of experimental mark & pattern making exercises using found objects such as bubble wrap, leaves and textured surfaces to use for their collage. Other materials like felt, metallic paper and beads will be available to use too. With scissors and glue, they will cut out their template with assistance and assemble their creature!
Activity 3 – Rainbow Mobiles – Depending on skill levels, students will cut out their own rainbow shape from corrugated cardboard. They will then be directed to colour each section in order of the rainbow olours, using paint. After this is complete, they will use paint pens to decorate each section before threading the beads and string through each section.
