Into The Vines- Iberia
Event description
ITV Iberia will have you saying hola to the A-Z of wines- from Albillo to Viura, you'll learn about lesser-known varieties to premium gold medal-winning drops to funky wines from young guns, with each tasting is part of a deep dive into the world of vino.
Into The Vines is a unique tasting event where boutique Victorian winemakers alongside specialised importers (with products usually only available on premise) bring the fruits of their labours to The Rochey for a carefully curated evening of tastings and discovery. This is a special Iberian-themed edition exclusively curated for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
No wine knowledge is needed – you'll receive a glossary of wine terms, a card so you can rank and score your wines, and some wine-themed conversation-starters so you'll be a wine expert in no time.
We're hosting some of Victoria's best importers (often you'll only find these wines exclusively on-premise in restaurants) as well as Victorian winemakers producing incredible wines from locally grown Iberian varieties so you can compare the difference between new world and old. You can purchase directly from the makers on the evening. A grazing board will be stocked up on the night to help you cleanse your palate between tastings, and you can take a break with a dinner special of Chicken ragu canelones, squid ink, corn butter sauce, fermented chilli on the night.
Elevate the evening with a Masterclass where over 45 minutes a wine from each of the participating winemakers and importers will be paired with a bite from that specific region, prepared by Chef Jonty from Fitzroy's acclaimed Anada Restaurant. Served with a detailed explanation from Jay Bessel (City Wine Room) about why the pairing elevates both the food and the drink, the terroir the wine is best produced in, and how to compare locally made to its native origin. It’s a quintessential experience for any curious food lover or epicurean, and a great chance to taste locally grown against the country these wines originated in (old world vs new world).
It's a unique opportunity to discover the lesser known world of Iberian wines!
