This interactive session is designed specifically to help local founders strengthen their NC IDEA Micro grant applications by gaining a better understanding of what problem you are solving, your initial target market, and what makes your solution unique.

Workshop Overview (3 hours)
1st & 2nd Sections – 1 Hour:

What is customer discovery?
Turning ideas into a business
Identifying the problem you’re solving
Exploring the right side of the Business Model Canvas
Defining potential customers (users, buyers, etc.)
Value proposition, problem–solution fit, and validating the problem

Break & Networking – Meet other founders, share ideas, and enjoy light dinner/snacks.

3rd & 4th Sections – 1 Hour 30 Minutes:

Understanding confirmation bias
Developing hypotheses
Identifying the right people to interview
Crafting effective interview questions
Team exercises: mapping industries, designing interviews, and practicing
