Introduction to Growing Microgreens

This event has passed Register

Event description

Join Daniel CERES’ microgreens farmer for a tour of the farm and lessons on how to grow microgreens at home. Daniel has been growing organic microgreens (mainly pea shoots and sunflower sprouts) commercially for more than 5 years. He’ll walk you through the production process from start to finish, answer your questions, and share what he’s learnt about managing an urban farming business.

Microgreens are densely grown seedlings that are harvested young for their highly concentrated nutrients. They are slightly more mature than sprouts, have an intense aromatic flavour and can be grown in small spaces not suitable for other crops.

What you will learn:

  • How CERES produces certified organic microgreens for wholesale in Preston.
  • How to grow pea shoots, radish, and sunflower sprouts at home.
  • How to plan for a continuous supply of these (enough for all your salad needs

The Workshop will take place at CERES Fair Food at 20 Water Road, Preston.
