Event description

Introduction to Physical Theatre

For 12-16 year olds

Sun 16th March

10am-1pm

The Drill Hall, Mullumbimby

In this fun and dynamic 3-hour workshop, we will explore the craft of performance through accessing core physical principles which allow for powerful and engaging stage presence.
Participants will be introduced to practices and techniques to support the development of confidence and ease around their movement skills.
This workshop is suitable for any young person between 12-16 years who wishes to explore their creativity through their body in a focussed and inclusive space where risk-taking and diversity are celebrated.

Some areas of focus:
- The different levels of performance energy
- How to listen to our impulses, as well as to the other people we are working with (the ensemble)
- How to move onstage in ways that are expressive
- How to be brave and take risks in making creative offers
- How we can work together to create some serious theatrical magic!

No theatre or dance experience necessary.
Please note: While this introductory workshop is offered as a one-off, there is the possibility that this will become a monthly offering for a committed group to train together to create a short piece of devised theatre. This will then be performed at the Northern Rivers Youth Theatre Festival later in the year.

Cost:
Early Bird (till 26th February): $50
General admission: $60
Please contact Noa if finances are an issue to arrange a solution.
