Intro to Playback Theater with Rosey Waters (7/31)
Event description
Are you curious about how to use improv to explore more than just comedy? The improv form of Playback Theatre might be just what you are looking for!
In Playback, the audience members tell true personal stories and the performers “play them back” instantly. Stories might be ordinary or life changing, funny or serious, highlighting both the unique and the universal aspects of the human experience.
In these 2 workshops (7/27, 7/31 — purchased separately), you will be invited to tell your story and play with a variety of techniques to craft a playback of someone else’s story. We will explore multiple levels of creativity including improvised scenes, movement, music and poetry to uncover the essence of the story. Each workshop will be different. You can take one or both!
As we tell our stories and listen to other people’s stories, we develop empathy and understanding. Through this a strong sense of community, participants can gain new perspectives, connect with others on a deeper level and have a lot of fun!
The eventual goal is to start a Playback team in 2026.
Please note: If you took the workshop that I taught in February, please come again! We will do some new things as well as repeat some of what you did before.
