Intro to Screen Printing Workshop
Event description
Design Your Own Apparel: Intro to Screen Printing Workshop
Screen printing allows you to create unique, custom designs on all sorts of materials—clothing, posters, tote bags, and more. It’s a hands-on way to express your creativity, whether you're designing for yourself, your community group, or as an artist.
Join us for a hands-on fabric screen printing workshop at the Brisbane Tool Library in Northshore, where you’ll learn the basics in a relaxed 2–2.5 hour session.
We’ll kick things off by explaining how to build your own screen printing frame using basic carpentry tools from our inventory. Then, working in pairs using pre-made Tool Library stencils, you'll create two fabric prints: one to keep and one for us!
What to Bring:
- A plain fabric item (e.g. t-shirt, tote bag, pillowcase)
- Safety glasses
What We Provide:
- Five fun monocolour designs to choose from
- Three ink colours: black, bright red, and light blue
- Gloves and all other materials
Want to print your own custom design? You can email us your artwork, and we’ll prepare a personalized screen for you to keep for an additional $100 (subject to design complexity and volunteer availability).
Pricing:
- Non-members: $55
- Tool Library Members: $50
- Non-member concession: $50
Workshop Details:
- Maximum class size: 10
- Age requirement: 18+
- Location: 221D MacArthur Avenue, Northshore 4007
About the Instructor: Mary Thatcher
Mary is a keen hobbyist who embraces the kintsugi philosophy—flaws in handmade items are what make them beautiful. She learned screen printing specifically to run this workshop, so we’ll be learning and experimenting together in a fun, supportive space.
Why Your Support Matters
