Intro to Upcycling — Turn a T-shirt into a Dress or Peplum Top
Event description
Join Ballina Shire Council and Sarah Hobson for a 2.5 hour hands-on workshop where you'll learn the skills and confidence to extend the life of your clothing in a unique and creative way.
Participants will learn accessible sewing techniques such as gathering, seam finishing, hemming and embellishing, as well as how to select and combine secondhand fabrics effectively. You'll receive take-home “cheat sheets” tailored to your body measurements so you can continue practicing and growing your upcycling skills independently.
What to bring:
an old t-shirt (your own, a partner’s, or a child’s)
secondhand fabrics if you have any (tablecloths, bedsheets, scraps, etc)
a sewing machine if you have one
To ensure participants receive close care and guidance from the workshop tutor throughout the event, the number of participants is strictly limited to 8. Sewing machines and secondhand fabrics will be provided for participants to use as well.
Contact justine.rowe@ballina.nsw.gov.au for any questions.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
