Introduction to Urban Rewilding

This event has passed Register

Event description

Workshop participants will now need to provide evidence of their full vaccination status or medical exemption in order to participate in on-site classes from 6 pm, 29th October. You will need to check in with our QR code and masks will need to be worn indoors. If you have a valid medical exemption, please get in touch asap. All CERES staff and contractors on site have met vaccination requirements.

Our connection to nature is an essential element of our humanity, yet connection requires more than simply getting a little fresh air or an armchair understanding.

This Introduction to Rewilding will introduce core routines of deep nature connection – practices that fast track a sense of belonging – even in the city.
Expect a hands-on workshop experience, weaving together nature sensitivity and ecological literacy as well as fire-by-friction, string making and sensory awakening.

Trainer Bio

Claire Dunn is a writer, mentor and barefoot explorer. Claire worked for many years as an environmental campaigner with organisations such as The Wilderness Society, before turning her attention to the human-nature connection. In 2010, Claire embarked on a year of wild living. My Year Without Matches: Escaping the City in Search of the Wild is a memoir of that journey. Claire is passionate about ‘rewilding’ our inner and outer landscapes and facilitates nature-based reconnection and rewilding retreats and contemporary wilderness rites-of-passage through her business Nature’s Apprentice. Claire is currently training to be a nature-based soul initiation guide with the Animas Valley Institute and writing another memoir about rewilding in an urban context. www.naturesapprentice.com.au
