Description

Are you seeking to deepen your connection with yourself and with others? Join us to learn and practice the principles offered in the Wheel of Consent®.

The Wheel is the embodied framework developed by Betty Martin. It’s a powerful tool to improve the quality of relating.

This workshop is a chance to bring curiosity to your desires, sensing into the quiet wisdom of your body and communicating from that awareness. From this place of attunement, there is an invitation to experience what clear agreements with others can look and feel like.

You will be invited to move slowly as together we create a container where it is safe for your authentic experience to emerge.

What you’ll explore

  • Building self-trust

  • How to recognize your own Yes and No clearly

  • How to feel into what you need and want, and to ask plainly for it

  • How to feel into your limits and communicate them effectively

  • Understanding consent—clarifying who is doing what, and who it is for

Who this is for

Anyone who wants to understand themselves better and strengthen their relationships — at home, among neighbors, or at work. Adults of every life stage are warmly welcome. No prior experience is needed, and those who already know the Wheel will find fresh layers to discover.

Your Facilitator Lee Moore

A seasoned facilitator and ceremonialist, Lee Moore brings a calm, steady presence to her workshops. Drawing on decades of facilitation with spiritual and secular groups, she is passionate about simple, grounded practices that help people feel more present and connected — with one another, with their communities, and with the natural world. As a Wheel of Consent facilitator-in-training, she will accompany you in discovering, for yourself, what becomes possible when you truly learn to receive and give.

Facilitator Lee Moore will guide our Wheel of Consent workshop.

More about our container

We will invite solo and paired practices with plenty of time for reflection, along with short teachings to offer context for the experiences. All practices will be described and demonstrated before you are invited to choose how you participate. Some invite respectful touching of hands. You can experience the practices by doing or by observing, and any exercise can be done without touch.

This workshop is built around comfort and dignity. A few things you can count on:

  • This is a workshop about making choices: no pressure to do or say anything beyond what you choose.

  • We slow down so that we can feel and listen to our own experience. From there, we are invited to express ourselves clearly.

  • Assistants provide presence and are available throughout the day if you find yourself in need of support.

Logistics

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with short breaks and a 75-minute lunch.

  • Group size: maximum 12 participants.

  • What to bring: comfortable clothing you can move in, a notebook, a water bottle, and yourself, just as you are.

  • Refreshments: tea and light snacks offered throughout the day. Please bring or plan to purchase your own lunch.

  • Accessibility: Bay State Cohousing is fully accessible.

Reading The Art of Receiving & Giving

You might wish to read Betty Martin's book on the Wheel of Consent, The Art of Receiving and Giving.

We highly recommend reading it; however it's not a prerequiste to participating in this workshop.
