Event description

Are you just beginning to advocate for your child with disability or developmental delay? You’re not alone. From the moment we notice our child needs extra support, we often find ourselves stepping into the role of advocate—sometimes without even realising it. But how do we advocate effectively, especially when systems can feel so complex and overwhelming?

Introduction to Advocacy is for parents and carers who are new to disability advocacy. This workshop will help you build the skills and confidence to speak up for your child and yourself.

In this interactive workshop, you will:

  • Explore the different types of advocacy and what they mean in everyday life
  • Learn practical strategies and communication tools to advocate in various settings
  • Connect with other families and discover helpful resources to guide your journey

You’ll leave feeling more empowered, better equipped, and supported to take your next steps—knowing you don’t have to do it alone.
