INTRODUCTION TO BASIC BIKE MAINTENANCE

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Do you want to learn how to carry out a safety check on your bike, clean a chain and change a flat tyre? Then come to one of our workshops!

The Parramatta Women's Shed is partnering with Parramatta Bike Hub to run a series of free workshops aimed at women, to celebrate Women's Week; we'd love to see you there!

This 2-hour workshop will give women solid, practical experience in using tools that are often needed to carry out basic bike maintenance.

You will learn how to do the following:

  • Perform a safety check
  • Clean and oil a bike chain
  • Use tools to repair flat tyres with hands-on experience taking wheels off and on.

All tools and materials will be provided for all workshops.  You must wear comfortable clothing, including closed-in shoes. Long hair needs to be tied back.

It is on Saturday, 11th of March at 2pm. Please arrive by 1:45 pm for a 2pm start.

This workshop is located at The Bower's Parramatta location, 1/4-14 Hunter St, Parramatta. It’s a five-minute walk from Parramatta train station, and there is limited paid street parking nearby. The Justice Precinct Carpark, accessible from Hunter Street, is located above The Bower with parking for $9 up to 3 hours.

We are also part of the Welcome Here Project, LGBTQIA+ friendly.

Light snacks will also be provided.

It is free, but registration is essential. These workshops have limited space, so book now!

During Women’s Week, we will also be collecting old mobile phones and laptops to donate to The Reconnect Project, so feel free to bring your pre-loved digital devices to the event which we will collect for donation.
