Introduction to Buddhism - Different Types of Happiness - Sunday 24th September (10am - 3pm)

The term ‘happiness’ has become a buzzword lately. What did the Buddha have to say about this topic of happiness? Isn't Buddhism more associated with suffering? In this workshop, we will explore the Buddha's teachings on happiness and how we can travel the spiritual path from happiness to happiness, finding greater freedom from anguish, stress and suffering along the way.

The morning workshop will include explanations with time for Q & A and discussion, along with guided reflections to connect with our personal experiences.

The afternoon meditation session will introduce meditative techniques to connect with our sources of happiness through heart-warming connection and deepen absorption of attention.

Wai Cheong has been teaching meditation and Buddhism since 1996 and completed the first 7-year FPMT Masters program in Advanced Buddhist Studies in Sutra and Tantra in Italy in 2004. After this study, Wai Cheong carried out a solitary retreat for four months in New Zealand. He has been a Senior Teacher at Vajrayana Institute, our sister Centre in Ashfield, for most of the time since 2006.

The morning workshop will include explanations with time for Q&A and discussion, along with guided reflections to connect with our personal experiences.

Introduction to Buddhism: Working with our Emotions - Sunday 26 November (10am to 3pm)

Our emotions are our responses to the many changes and challenges in our life. Some of our emotional habits are helpful and wholesome, while others can become unhelpful and destructive. The Buddha's teachings contain many instructions on how to become mindful of our emotional habits, strengthen the wholesome habits, and transform those that are harmful so that we can accomplish the goals of freedom from suffering and finding genuine happiness.

The morning workshop will include explanations with time for Q&A and discussion, along with guided reflections to connect with our personal experiences.

The afternoon meditation session will introduce meditative techniques to develop mindfulness of emotions and ways to change our relationship to our emotions.
