Treat yourself! Take the plunge and try burlesque in 2023.
No prior knowledge or dance experience is required to dip your toe in to the glamorous world of burlesque and have some fun!
Join us in a 4 week beginner level course where you will learn the foundation so burlesque, from the way to strut the stage, to learning the shimmy and the infamous Bump and Grind!
This is a non-strip course, and will focus on understanding where burlesque came from and the kinds of movements that feature in quintessential traditional burlesque routines. There is no performance element, instead it's a place to ask questions and try new things in a safe and welcoming environment.
Bring a friend, or be daring and come on your own. You'll learn new skills, build your self-confidence and meet new friends all in the one place. Whether you're looking to kick start a new exercise habit, try new things, push yourself out of your comfort zone, or make new friends, learning burlesque with the Muse School of Burlesque will help you on your way.
Meet your teacher: Lulu Lore
Lulu has been teaching with Muse School of Burlesque since 2022 and has a passion for burlesque and musical theatre. She has performed in shows across Sydney and placed Runner Up in 2021 burlesque competition Burlesque Muse. She is a character driven performer with a love of Drag style Lip Syncing. She’s a unique mix of a Broadway Bombshell and a Melodramatic Comedy Queen. Lulu will take you through each week with a fun warm up, a slow step by step of how to do each move, and a relaxed and fun run through to music to help you get some practice and perfect the move.
What to wear and bring:
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in - active wear or loose fitting clothing is fine
Bring a bottle of water so you can stay hydrated
If you have dance shoes (eg for latin, ballroom, or other dance styles), bring those along and put them on after warm up is complete
Bring your smile and a sense of adventure! Laughing and trying your best are all that's expected in class.
