    Event description

Would you like to use your experience as a patient, carer, or someone with lived experience to create a better health system? Every week there are hundreds of committees across our health system that need to have a consumer voice at the table.

The training is offered free of charge to consumers on the following days:

    • In-person (18 September, 9.30am-12.00pm - Unit 4/434 Lord St, Mount Lawley WA 6050)
    • Online (25 September, 12.00pm-2.30pm - online via Zoom)
    • Online (8 October, 5.30pm-7.30pm -online via Zoom)

We know that pro-active and skilled Consumer Representatives can do just that, and this introductory course will help you get started. Consumer Representatives play an integral role in the Australian health care system. They provide vital information and ideas from a service user’s perspective, to health services and government committees.

This interactive workshop will give you the opportunity to hear, learn and think about important information for consumer representatives including:

    1. The roles and purpose of a consumer representative
    2. The benefits of consumer representation
    3. Barriers to participation for consumer representatives
    4. Overcoming barriers to participation
    5. Maintaining effectiveness as a consumer representative
    6. Taking care of yourself in your consumer representative role

This session also provides a chance to connect with others who share your interests and passion for improvement. A certificate of completion will be provided upon completing this training.

Note: Health Consumers' Council does not provide consumer payment for this event.
