Introduction to Effective Governance Training by McLaughlin Sports Consultancy
Event description
Session Information:
Good governance is at the heart of successful sporting clubs. Whether you're part of a national, state, regional, or local organisation, how your club is governed has a profound impact on its performance, reputation, and long-term sustainability.
Poor governance can arise from various factors, including:
- director inexperience
- unmanaged conflicts of interest
- inadequate financial controls
- poor internal systems.
These issues not only hinder your club’s growth but also affect the confidence of the broader sport and recreation community in your organisation.
This workshop will explore the essential elements of effective governance and how they contribute to a well-run and high-performing club. Participants will learn how to:
- develop clear strategic goals and direction
- establish systems to monitor performance
- ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
Additionally, we’ll examine how club committees and boards can act in the best interests of their members by demonstrating transparency, accountability, and responsibility.
Join us to enhance your governance practices and build a stronger, more resilient sporting club that serves its members and community with confidence.
