Event description

Herbal Medicine, the study and practice of using plants for their therapeutic value to people, is a broad and historic field with many different perspectives. In this class, we seek to define herbal medicine and its value for human health. We will take a look at differing schools of thought regarding using plants as medicine while highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to health. We will ask questions such as "How does herbal medicine work?" and "Why are plants beneficial to human health?" After addressing these broad questions we will look at parts of plants used as medicine and different forms that herbal medicines come in and how they may be applied. Students will have the opportunity to observe, smell & taste different herbal preparation forms. Finally, we will overview some of the basic safety issues to address when using plants as medicine.

There is free parking on 5th St.

The Annex can be found to the left of the building, along the charming alleyway adorned with black benches.
