About the Class

In this class, students will focus on the fundamentals of improvisation through games, exercises, and ensemble-building, moving toward basic storytelling as its goal. Each class will "wake up" the physical, vocal, and imaginative instrument, segue into theater games, and, in a supportive and encouraging environment, build the skills of offering and accepting, listening, as well as responding to the moment. This is a basic class appropriate for both beginners as well as those needing a "refresher" course.

About the Artist: Andres Munar

Andres Munar is an actor, writer, director, and teacher born in Bogota, Colombia, raised in Miami, Florida, and currently teaching at UNC-Greensboro. As a performer, he has been seen in work at Lincoln Center, Woolly Mammoth, The Old Globe, The Foundry, Working Theater, NY Theater Workshop, Intar, Cherry Lane, Rattlestick, Clubbed Thumb, among others. Andres was a TCG/Fox Foundation Fellow in residence at Cornerstone Theater Company from 2008-2010 and a Bowden Award recipient from New Dramatists. Film and TV: Entre Nos, Che, Law and Order, Queens Supreme, Blue Bloods, The Blacklist, Queen of the South, New Amsterdam, among others. Directing credits include Leegrid Stevens plays Leda's Swan at Columbia University, The Dudleys! at Swing Space, and Heart of Shrapnel at Elon. His essay, “Tricksterism in Translation,” was published by Routledge in Applied Theatre With Youth. He is a teaching artist through Manhattan Theater Club's "Write on the Edge," "CORE," and "TheatreLink" programs, and has taught acting as an adjunct at Fordham University, and as a Guest Teacher for Intar Theatre's Unit 52.
