Introduction to making fire by friction, Iluka Woodyhead Camp ground car park

Join us in a quiet setting for a fun, hands on 4 hours. In this time we will create a safe respectful place for kids and adults alike, to learn about basic survival practices through experiential learning.

In this session, we will have the opportunity to understand and practice basic fire safety, what is needed to start and maintain a fire, and possibly begin to feel the deep human connection to fire as our ancestors once had.

Each family member will be given the opportunity to start a fire by friction using a fire striker. We will then build a full-scale fire to boil a billy and make some damper to supplement your lunch.
