Event description

Join TABOO Period Products for a free education workshop for young South Australians and their parents/carers for an 'Introduction Into Periods!'. TABOO is partnering with the City of Adelaide Council to make menstrual health education more accessible in the community.

This fun and interactive workshop with TABOO’s Menstrual Health Educator will lead you through engaging and interactive discussions, teaching students about the menstrual cycle. The presentations will focus on the underlying biology, anatomy and why the process is important. Students will be taught about the physiological and hormonal changes to expect as they journey through puberty, with a focus on menstrual health. The presentation will cover signs and symptoms of menstruation, four distinct phases of the cycle, phase based exercises, normal and abnormal menses, safe menstrual product use and reproductive health conditions specific to the targeted age group. Each individual will walk away with local resources providing free period products and trusted resources for additional menstrual health information. This workshop is appropriate for those who would like to understand the foundational menstrual health concepts.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Improved understanding of menstrual health and its effects to become more confident and informed adults.
  2. An insight into the four phases of the menstrual cycle and key signs and symptoms that require further investigating.
  3. An opportunity for the audience to engage in open and honest conversations about menstrual health.

TABOO is hosting this education workshop at the Minor Works Community Centre in the 'Gallery' space. The space is on the bottom floor and is wheelchair accessible, dog assistance friendly and has an accessible bathroom.
