Description
Introduction to Permaculture: Ethics, Principles and Practice
Join Kym Ormond and discover the ideas behind permaculture and how they can be applied to the way we grow food, use resources and create more sustainable homes and communities.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore the ethics and principles that underpin permaculture, from caring for people and the planet to reducing waste, working with nature and making the most of what we already have. We’ll look at how these ideas translate into practical everyday actions, whether you have a large backyard, a small garden or simply want to live a little more sustainably.
You’ll leave with a better understanding of permaculture as a way of thinking and a collection of practical ideas you can start putting into practice at home.
What you will learn and what to expect:
The three core ethics of permaculture
An introduction to the 12 principles of permaculture
How to observe and work with natural systems
Practical ways to reduce waste and make better use of resources
How permaculture can be applied beyond the garden
A Seed saving and plant propagation demo
Plenty of discussion, examples and practical ideas
Kym Ormond Bio
Kym Ormond is a community educator, permaculturist and trained chef who teaches skills in sustainable living from food preservation to sourdough bread baking, permaculture gardening, music and other skills he’s picked up along the way.
Kym's goal is to share forgotten skills that he's learnt over the years and return them from "Uncommon sense" to common sense life skills. Kym started off his career in commercial kitchens before eventually finding his feet in the soil and transitioned over to working on commercial farms, permaculture food growing projects and owning his own plant nursery. Kym has combined his love of growing food and cooking together into a series of sustainable living courses that are interactive, fun and informative.
