Introduction to Persian Dance
Event description
Dance has been a very important part of the ancient Persian culture and identity for thousands of years. Join Marzi to learn the basics of classical Persian dance which prizes flexibility, grace, dominance of upper body moves and facial expressions. Bring your relaxed body to the Persian dance workshop and take smooth movements and positive energy home.
Marzi Riazi is an Iranian woman who moved to Tasmania in 2019 to undertake PhD studies focussing on the experiences of female Persian migrants in Australia. She dances to Iranian songs in the classic Persian style. Marzi has performed at a number of events including at Salamanca Arts Centre and, more recently, for the Nowruz (Iranian New Year) community celebration.
