Introduction to Preventive Conservation and Collections Care

ICS is offering a full-day workshop for collection caretakers wanting to gain practical preservation skills under the guidance of trained Preventive Conservator Gianna Puzzo.

The course is an ideal starting point for curators, archivists, artists, gallery workers, and volunteers involved in collections care to gain introductory skills and knowledge amongst supportive allied professionals.

The full-day training will involve a combination of lectures, discussions, table-top exercises and hands-on sessions. Each participant will receive a resource pack with bibliographies, references, worksheets, and further reading.

Subjects include:

• 10 Agents of Deterioration

• Object Handling

• Condition Assessment and Documentation

• Basic Housekeeping for Collections

Morning refreshments and a catered lunch will be provided.
