Schema Therapy is an integrative therapy model that combines cognitive, behavioural, attachment, development, psychodynamic and gestalt elements. It has a strong evidence base for the treatment of a diverse range of presenting concerns in adults, and in the recent years has been modified for use with children and adolescents. Clinical experience across the globe and preliminary data indicates that Schema Therapy for Children and Adolescents (ST-CA) is a powerful and effective intervention approach with these clients.

It is therapeutic approach that makes sense of the complexity of humans, but it doesn’t have to be complicated!

This two day training will provide you with an overview of the theory and practice of schema therapy as it is applied to child and adolescent clients.

By the end of the two day training you will:

- Learn key developmentally appropriate assessment approaches and intervention strategies to implement with young clients.
- Use a Schema Therapy approach to formulate in a way that makes sense to you and your child and adolescent clients.
- Be provided support and guidance for practice of some key experiential techniques to implement with young people.
- Have an understanding of how to provide schema coaching to parents and caregivers.

This training is delivered in a playful and experiential manner to aid your learning, growth, and confidence!

If you’re a child and adolescent therapist who is curious about how to use schema therapy with your younger clients this is the training for you.

If you’re a child and adolescent therapist who is unsure if schema therapy makes sense in the setting that you work, this training provides valuable information about how you may adapt the framework to be beneficial within the constraints by which you work, including within our Medicare model.

This training is not eligible for ISST Certification, but may be considered a precursor training opportunity, and is applicable more broadly to any child and adolescent therapist who wishes to broaden and deepen their therapeutic intervention frameworks to support their young clients with lasting and meaningful change.

CPD = total of 13 hours (6.5 hours per day)

Registration is from 8.30am each day, with training commencing at 9am
