Introduction to Sewing (Saturday)
Event description
Jump into sewing with an Introduction to Sewing Weekend, these classes run from 10:00am-4:30pm, over two Saturdays (12th & 19th July). That's 13 hours of sewing goodness delivered to you. These sessions are aimed at those who would like to increase their sewing skills, and is perfect for people with no or limited sewing ability, a real 'back to basics' weekend.
In these classes we will be using sewing machines and learning simple construction techniques.
All materials, patterns and use of equipment is included in course fee. This weekend introductory course is a small class (max. 6 students with 2 teachers) so that people will receive the assistance they need to increase their sewing skills, that can then be used as a basis for upcycling clothing and textiles.
Techniques will be incorporated into projects including:
Pen/pencil wrap (can also be used for cutlery, make-up items etc)
Drawstring backpack
Boxer shorts

6.5 hours each day over two Saturday's, (Saturday 12th August 10:00am-4.30pm and Saturday 19th August 10:00-4.30pm.)
Cost: $300
This workshop is limited to 6 participants.
Best suited for beginners.
Includes light refreshments.
PLEASE NOTE: All of our classes and workshops are created using circular economy principles. This means we love using many recycled and reclaimed fabrics, and haberdashery items for our sewing projects. We are deeply passionate about diverting textile waste from landfill and we do this through upcycling.
