These are free events designed for members of the public clinical mental health workforce in Victoria, (staff employed at Area Mental Health Services, Forensicare or mental health staff from RCH) and lived experience workforces (LEW) working in either public clinical or community mental health state-funded roles. Other workforce in partner organisations, such as AOD organisations or ACCHOs, may sometimes be eligible. Please note, if you do register for an event and it is not clear you are part of the intended audience, your registration will be confirmed two weeks prior to the event start date, or earlier.

This training aligns to Capability 8 (Working effectively with families, carers and supporters) of the Victorian Mental Health & Wellbeing Workforce Capability Framework.

This training for staff working in Adult mental health aims to introduce ways of engaging and supporting parents experiencing challenges associated with their mental health, practical ways to include the wellbeing of children and parenting support needs will be shared.

Alice Morgan, Alfred Mental & Addiction Health

Alice Morgan is an educator and family therapist with broad experience working with children and families in schools, independent practice, community organisations as well as in family violence and carer services. In her current role, Alice is involved in capacity building across adult mental health services to better support children and parents impacted by mental health challenges and illness.

She has published extensively about her work and is the author of the very popular book ‘What is Narrative Therapy? An easy to read introduction.’ (2000) and editor of “Once upon a Time…. Narrative therapy with Children and their families.”(1999. Dulwich Centre Publications).

Angela Chalmers, Mercy Mental Health

Angela joined the FaPMI Program 3 years ago, fuelling her passion for supporting and advocacy for families. Her journey began when she trained as a Psychiatric Nurse in the 90s and working for many years within the Mercy Mental Health Perinatal Mental Health Services. Her years of experience led to her interest in the impact of mental health experiences on families and exploring family support systems.
