Introduction to the Soil Food Web - the secret to successful growing

This is the first of two May workshops on the Soil Food Web. Come along and find out:

• What is the Soil Food Web and why is it important

• How do soil microbes influence soil health and soil function

• What is the difference between soil & dirt

• The Functions of key Soil Food Web critters

• How to foster healthy soil

This workshop is suited to all gardeners, farmers and anyone else interested in the natural world. The workshop will go for an hour and be followed by morning tea where growers can meet each other and share their successes and failures.

The second Soil Food Web workshop will take place at Cessnock City Library on 23 May 9-12:30pm. This workshop will provide an in-depth examination of the Soil Food Web. Participants will be able to bring along a soil sample to get examined under the microscope and content will be tailored to the questions and reactions coming from growers and what their soil samples reveal.

Please send an email to environment@cessnock.nsw.gov.au if the cost of this workshop is an issue for you. Council has imposed a cost on tickets to limit 'no-shows' on the day but does not wish for cost to prevent anyone from attending.
