Introduction to the Wheel of Consent®
Event description
Introduction to the Wheel of Consent®
This is a monthly experiential workshop and practice group for those interested in learning some of the key elements of the Wheel of Consent®, and building confidence and skill in community with others.
It is suitable for those who want to learn how to express their own authentic desires and limits, and create consensual agreements.
Step by step we break the skills of consent down and practice the essential embodied communication that will support you to stay in integrity with yourself and share skillfully with those around you.
What is the Wheel of Consent®?
The Wheel of Consent® is a practice developed by Betty Martin as a way of supporting people to notice and communicate what we do and don’t want in dynamic conversation with others.
Utilising embodiment skills and strengthening our capacity to notice and choose, the Wheel supports anyone seeking to engage in meaningful and authentic agreement making.
Useful in intimate relationships, workplaces, friendship and general life, the Wheel supports us to be integrity, clarity and empowerment with ourselves and consensual engagement with others.
Betty has established the School of Consent to foster the growth of this work and it is now taught and embraced across the world.
Here is Betty summarising the Wheel of Consent®
What you might expect to learn:
- How to work out what you truly want and be able to ask for it.
- Consent skills that go beyond a permission-based conversation and support you and others to stay within personal boundaries.
- An increased self-awareness and capacity to notice and name your limits.
- An ability to slow down, notice and honour yourself while encouraging others to do the same.
- How to come into conversation and agreement making with others that feels integrous and joyfully aligned.
These skills enhance the quality of our relationships and sense of self, and are useful in many contexts. Whether you are seeking better intimacy and sex, expanded pleasure or deepening the quality of your relationships with friends, family or work colleagues, this workshop is for you.

- Feelings are welcome – You are welcome in your fullness with your tears and laughter.
- Scope of workshop – this workshop is essentially about noticing and choosing. Please refrain from naming requests or offers for unclothed, genital or explicitly sexual touch or experiences. This is a fully clothed space. All touch is optional and not necessary to learn.
